These creamy peanut butter kefir popsicles are the best for using up kefir in a delicious way. You and your family will love the peanut butter cheesecake-y flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, and all the protein, calcium, and probiotics that go with it.

A few months ago I finally dove into the world of kefir. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time and I finally jumped in.
I’ve been having so much fun learning the process and experimenting with the result. I came up with the idea for these popsicles when we were getting almost more kefir than I knew what to do with.
I personally love to have a small glass of plain milk kefir every morning, and so does my 2-year old. But the rest of my family? Not so much.
Luckily these popsicles help us get through more kefir AND they taste amazing. The flavor is like that peanut butter pie you make with cream cheese and whipped topping. Yeah, not so great for you. But these kefir pops are a different story!
You can learn all about kefir in my last post, How To Make Milk Kefir, if you’re at all confused or curious. But suffice to say, kefir is an amazing traditional way to ferment milk and adds a ton of amazing benefits.
Now let’s get into the recipe:
What You Need To Make These Popsicles
- a high-speed blender
- popsicle molds (even Dixie cups work!)
- popsicle sticks (if not included with your mold)
- a freezer, of course
- active milk kefir grains (more on that here!)
- the ingredients listed below
How To Make Peanut Butter Kefir Popsicles
- To a blender, add 6 oz. milk kefir, 4 oz. heavy cream, 2 frozen ripe bananas, 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 tsp. sea salt, and 1/4 cup peanut butter.
- Add 1 scoop collagen peptides (optional).
- Blend everything together until smooth and creamy. Taste test and adjust to preference as needed.
- Pour mixture into popsicle molds and place in the freezer for 6-8 hours or until frozen solid.
- Carefully remove from molds, briefly running under hot water if necessary, and enjoy!

My kids are obsessed with these pops. I’m always trying to think of creative ways to get more kefir in our diet, because now that it’s summer I’m making 2 cups of kefir every day!
In the summer everything ferments faster thanks to the heat. So whereas in the cooler months I could let my kefir sit a little longer, these days I have to change it out every 24 hours or even less!
But that’s where these popsicles come in clutch- not only do they use up the abundant kefir, they’re also great for cooling off.

Additions and Substitutions
There are a few easy swaps you can make with this easy recipe, as well as some delicious additions.
- use almond butter in place of peanut butter
- or any other nut butter like cashew, or sunflower or pumpkin seed
- instead of heavy cream, use milk or additional kefir
- if you can’t have bananas, use frozen coconut cream and an additional 1/4 cup of honey
- stir in chopped peanuts or other nuts in after blending for a crunchy option
- swirl in a homemade chocolate sauce for even more decadence
- dip into melted chocolate then crushed peanuts or shredded coconut after freezing

This recipe is so easy. If you can make a smoothie, you can make these.
One thing to note with substituting more kefir or milk for the cream; I chose to add heavy cream to make them more, well, creamy! and less icy.
If you don’t mind the more icy texture, feel free to use milk or kefir. Personally, I love the creamy, silky texture for pops like these or fudgesicles. And since we have a good source for high quality cream, I love to include it!

You can find the recipe below, and I hope you’ll let me know what you think!
