How To Make Gelatin Gummies With Juice
- Measure 4 cups of juice in a large measuring cup or bowl.
- Pour half of the juice into a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup gelatin powder over the remaining two cups of juice and stir.
- Allow to gelatin to bloom.
- Meanwhile, heat the juice in the saucepan until it just comes to a boil.
- Pour the hot juice over the gelatin mixture.
- Pour everything into a 9×13″ pan or your chosen gummy molds.
- Cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
- Cut into squares or pop out of molds and enjoy your easy gelatin gummies!
As you can see, it’s a very easy process, but that’s just the jumping off point. In this post I’ll be giving you some variations on this basic recipe to keep things interesting.
The mojito flavor is my new favorite- refreshing, light and perfect for spring. First the lime hits you, then you get the aftertaste of mint. Even my picky kids kept telling me how good they were.

What You Need To Make Gelatin Gummies
- 4 cups juice
- 1/2 cup gelatin powder (you can do as little as 1/4 cup if you like a very light, less chewy gummy, but I’m going for maximum protein here. Plus I like thicker gelatin gummies. And they’re easier to remove from molds this way, too!)
- Large measuring cup or heat-proof bowl
- Saucepan
- Fork or wooden spoon
- Heat-proof pan or gummy molds
- Plastic wrap, foil or beeswax wrap
- Optional: dropper for adding mixture to small molds, like a gummy-bear mold
Step-By-Step Process
- Measure your juice and gelatin, and pour half the juice into your saucepan to heat.

2. Pour gelatin over remaining juice and allow it to bloom (this is so the gelatin will dissolve and heat evenly).

3. Bring your juice in the saucepan to a boil while the gelatin blooms and thickens.

4. Pour the hot juice over the bloomed gelatin and stir.

5. Pour mixture into 9×13″ pan or preferred gummy molds.

6. Cover and chill in the fridge for several hours or overnight.
Variations and Flavor Ideas
- Mojito: For this flavor, use 1 cup lime juice and 3 cups filtered water. Add 1/2 cup of sugar since lime juice doesn’t really contain any. Then eat the juice/water, add sugar and 6-8 mint leaves to the saucepan as you heat. Dissolve the sugar and bring to a slight boil. Remove from heat and place a lid on and steep for 5 minutes, then proceed with the method.
- Tart Cherry: If you’re using 100% tart cherry juice (as opposed to a blend), you might want to add 1/4-1/3 cup of honey or sugar as it can be VERY tart. Other than that, follow the method.
- Pineapple: You can find pineapple juice either in the tiny six-pack cans, or in a regular carton in the refrigerated section. 100% pineapple juice is delicious. You definitely won’t need any sugar!
- Coconut: Use two cups coconut water and 2 cups coconut milk (the tetra pack kind will work best). Again, you might want 1/4 cup of sugar to add a little sweetness here.
- Grape: Using regular old grape juice is a no-brainer, and so yummy.

5 More Flavor Ideas
- Pomegranate: Pomegranate juice is widely available and super healthy, plus it has such a strong, tasty flavor.
- Lemonade: Fresh-squeezed would be a healthy choice full of vitamin C. Try 1 cup of lemon juice, 3 cups filtered water and 1/2 cup honey or sugar.
- Orange Mango: Aldi is a great place to find orange-mango blend juice, next to the regular OJ in the refrigerated section. Just juice and gelatin again!
- Apple Pie: Infuse apple juice with 2-3 cinnamon sticks by bringing them to a boil with the juice, then steeping with the lid on the saucepan for 15 minutes. You might need to reheat the juice after removing the cinnamon sticks in order to melt the bloomed gelatin. Then proceed as normal 🙂
- Creamsicle: Combine 3 cups OJ and 1 cup coconut milk in your measuring cup, pour half into the saucepan to heat and stir the gelatin into the other half, add 1/4 cup honey and 2 teaspoons vanilla after pouring hot juice over the bloomed gelatin, stir and pour into molds. Yum!

In it, you’ll notice I originally used the 1/4 cup gelatin. This is totally up to your preference.
Using 1/2 will obviously give you more gelatin and protein per serving, and I’ve come to prefer thicker gelatin gummies.
So to me, it makes sense to get more gelatin in at once. But if you find you like the more classic Jell-O Jiggler consistency, stick with 1/4 cup.
You can always experiment and see what you and your family enjoy.
