Hey! I’m Tara (the one in the green trying not to totally lose it). I’m so glad to have you here. Like seriously, there are so many blogs out there and you clicked on mine. Thank you! I’d love to tell you a little about myself and what you can find here at Mother Cultured.
Since I was a little girl I loved playing at homemaking. Stirring wooden spoons around empty bowls, tying on an apron to feather-dust my bedroom, putting my dolls down for their naps.
Somewhere along the line, cooking, cleaning and mothering lost that magic as the world tried to tell me it was drudgery.
Thank the Lord He has renewed my mind and is giving me a revived passion for caring for my family and home.
This is most apparent in my love of homeschooling, cooking, and learning to live traditionally. I hope you find this place both accessible and nourishing. And that you recapture that magical feeling of playing house now that you actually have one 🙂
These days, I’m a homeschooling mom to 3, homemaker, devoted wife, and Jesus follower.
I love cooking, making my house a home, and learning traditional skills. I could talk all day about Charlotte Mason and good books.
This blog is where I share recipes, homemaking tips, homeschool ideas, and all things home-y. I’d love to have you come along as I share how the Spirit is sanctifying me through motherhood and everything that goes with it.
Why “Mother Cultured”?
Mother Culture is a concept and practice loosely defined as a mother continuing her own education. This often looks like carving out a half-hour to read, reflect, journal and practice a skill or hobby. You can read all about that in my three-part series on Mother Culture, starting here.
I chose this name because it encapsulated all the things I want to write and share about. Everything from Mother Culture itself to motherhood in general, and even hints at “cultured” foods like homemade yogurt and home-fermented drinks.
It’s a fun play on words that conveys what you can expect from this blog: Nourishing recipes, encouragement for mothers and wives, homemaking advice, homeschooling inspiration, and ideas for practicing Mother Culture.
I truly hope you find some encouragement and comradery here. However, I never want to project an unrealistic image of perfection. My life is far from perfect. My house is less than aesthetic.
But it’s my intention to cultivate joy in motherhood, contentment in simple living, and a love for home.
Because I never outgrew playing house!
